Steelin' Dan performs at the "37th Annual Sacramento Jazz Festival & Jubilee" On May 28, 2010 Steelin' Dan performed at the largest jazz festival on the west coast: "The Sacramento Jazz Festival & Jubilee". The capacity crowd was wowed by the band's ferocious performance. The Sacramento T.V. Station KCRA Channel 3 (NBC affiliate) couldn't resist commenting about the band's performance on their evening news broadcast!
Steelin' Dan interviewed by Charlie Thomas of THE EAGLE 96.9 FM The Eagle's CHARLIE THOMAS interviews Steelin' Dan!Three members of Steelin' Dan were recently invited as special guests of Charlie Thomas, well known DJ at Sacramento's Classic Rock flagship radio station KSEG "THE EAGLE" 96.9 FM! Michael Beaman (lead vocalist & guitarist), Kurt Shiflet (guitarist) and Ron Hall (bassist) had the privilege of being interviewed by Charlie Thomas at The Eagle's VIDEO PRODUCTION STUDIO, where it was captured on video. In addition to discussing the background and successes of Steelin' Dan, Charlie also expressed a keen interest in Steely Dan's music, particularly the timeless GUITAR SOLOS that the Dan are so well known for. Charlie asked Kurt and Michael to bring along their guitars, and had them perform a few of the iconic Dan guitar solos in the studio. Steelin' Dan is proud to announce that our saxophonist Charley Langer, has just released his debut solo CD, entitled "NEVER THE SAME". Charley describes his music as "intelligent smooth jazz". Perhaps a better description is "Phil Woods meets Boney James".
This impressive CD is produced by Ron Wikso... and includes musicians such as: Alphonso Johnson, Matt Bissonette, Kurt Griffey, Wally Minko and Michito Sanchez. Each Track Pack will be available for 440 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE and for $5.49 on the Playstation Store.  Lucky Friday the 13th
Friday the thirteenth at a casino, what better time to present the ironic music of Steely Dan? It sure felt lucky to us. And ironic. Playing "Do It Again" at a casino... ooo...that's good.
 We had a ball playing at Feather Falls Casino in the showroom. There's nothing like spotlights and fog machines and about a dozen subwoofers to really make it a party. If you were one of the lucky many that caught the show, thank you! That was a wing-ding, was it not? Hope you all were just as lucky with the slots. Rumor has it that one of the band's entourage did rather well on the Wheel of Fortune after the show. Bob also was quite lucky after the show. He made it all the way home without incident, up into the foothills, in the wee hours of the morning, in a snowstorm.
